Friendly & Welcoming

HL10KCFThe Robert Moffat Memorial Race has a fantastic reputation as being friendly to runners of all abilities as well as spectators. And although 5th March might be a bit chilly, you can be sure of a warm welcome from the whole of High Legh.

The race starts and finishes near the primary school in High Legh. The school is our race HQ; race registration, baggage drop, loos, First Aid and irresistible home-made refreshments will be available from the PTA. No wonder the race has a friendly, community feel!

Training For The HL10K

High Legh 10K Race finisherPreparing to take part in any 10K requires adequate training. There are serious risks in trying to run hard without that training. Lymm Runners offer plenty of training opportunities to support runners of all abilities wanting to take part in the High Legh 10K.

In addition to the strength and speedwork session on a Tuesday evening, we offer longer, slower runs on a Sunday morning, and  various club road runs on Thursday evening to accommodate runners of various abilities. We also organise HL10K-specific training!

10K Beginner’s Course  finishHugs

Designed for new runners – or those returning after a longer break, our Beginners’ Course starts on 6th January 2017. The course provides 8 weeks of structured training to gradually increase your fitness and distance in the lead-up to the event. It also provides loads of encouragement, is led by registered coaches and leaders, and is a great way to meet other like-minded runners.  It’s a fantastic opportunity to launch your running year!
Further details are on Lymm Runners website.

Run-The-Route Sessions

The first 1Km of the Robert Moffat Memorial 10K Race takes runners through the quiet estate of High Legh (including the road named Robert Moffat). It then follows generally flat leafy Cheshire lanes with only a few rolling sections. You can view the full route on  MapMyRun.

The final 1 Km follows the B5159 until the final turn, for the finish line at the village school.

Run-the-route led by Lymm RunnersLymm Runners organise two free run-the-route sessions. These sessions will cater for runners of different abilities. So no matter what speed you are looking to achieve on race day you can have a guided tour of the route and will know exactly where you’ll be running on the day.

Run-the-route groups will  start from the school after a briefing. All are welcome – but please DO NOT PARK IN RENSHERDS CLOSE!  Instead, if you travel by car, please park considerately in Wrenshot Lane or in the Village Hall car park (5 minutes walk away – and parking is free).
